Apple might release Siri for all iOS devices – iOS 5.1 beta 3 hints

by Zaib Ali on January 12, 2012

In the latest beta version of iOS 5.1 CultofMac has found some references to Siri’s Dictation feature on an iPod touch and iPad. This reference is present under the keyboard settings menu in the settings.app. The reference found in the keyboard settings menu is a link to iOS’s Dictation and privacy details. This clearly indicates that Apple is willing to bring atleast the dictaition feature of Siri to iPod touch and iPad if not the Siri feature as a whole.

Interestingly this very reference is absent from the iPhone 4S whereas others have also found it on iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1 beta 3.

Although this is major, we should not get our hopes high based on this reference as it might be just a mistake or Apple might decide to keep Siri exclusive to next gen devices only depriving millions of iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G, iPad, and iPad 2 owners from their own digital personal assistant.
