Following the ridiculous rage in the press about the heating levels of the new iPad, Apple has finally issued an official statement in which it has cleared that iPad operates ‘well within’ their thermal specifications for the device. The image above by Tweakers.net shows that the new iPad gets 10 degrees hotter than iPad 2. The site ran graphic benchmarks for 5 minutes on both iPads before recording their temperatures. These graphic benchmarks caused both iPads to get hotter than normal conditions which resulted in the new iPad getting little more hotter than its predecessor.
Apple PR’s Trudy Muller responded to AllThingsD‘s question in the following statement
“The new iPad delivers a stunning Retina display, A5X chip, support for 4G LTE plus 10 hours of battery life, all while operating well within our thermal specifications. If customers have any concerns they should contact AppleCare.”
