Gmail app for iOS receives update. Adds supports for notifications center and more

by Zaib Ali on June 25, 2012

Google’s official Gmail app for iOS has recently received a major update in the App Store. This new update adds support for the notification center, so now Gmail app users will be able to see their latest emails in the notification center of their device. Google has also made push notifications 5x faster. This update has also given the users ability to send emails from their alternate email address, so when sending a new message you will now be able to tell the app which email address to use with ‘Send As’ feature. Finally this update adds an improved login experience than before, and now sessions no longer expire like they used to before this update. Full change log and download link after the break.

Here’s the full change log for Gmail app’s update:

What’s New in Version 1.2.7812

- Notification Center support. Banners, alerts and lock screen notification options.
- “Send-as”. Alternate sender support, if configured within Gmail.
- Persistent login. Sessions no longer expire.
