Apple has officially announced the new iPhone 5. The device carries a new design with a 4-inch diagonal screen that has a resolution of 1136×640. The screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9 allowing users to enjoy widescreen experience for videos. The new iPhone 5 is only 7.6mm thick that according Apple makes it the thinnest smartphone available in the market. iPhone 5 is powered by an A6 chip that features 2x performance and is capable of delivering 2x better graphics when compared to A5 chip found on the iPhone 4S. Apple has also announced that all of it’s apps including the iWork suite, Garageband, and iMovie have been updated to support the new screen resolution of the new iPhone.
It also features LTE with ultrafast network. iPhone 5 has three microphones that provide more voice clarity to the users, Apple is dubbing the new iPhone 5′s voice capability as HD Voice.
iPhone 5 features a 8-megapixel camera that takes pictures at 3264×2448 resolution. It also has backlight illumination, Hybrid IR filter, five elements lens, and f/2.4 aperture. The new camera on iPhone 5 takes pictures 40% faster than previous iPhone. The new iPhone’s camera is capable of recording 1080p HD videos and also has the face detection feature. It is also capable of taking pictures at panorama mode that takes a 28 megapixel photo.
The front facing camera Apple has added on iPhone 5 is HD, that means users will now be able to make high quality video calls with other iOS device and Mac users. The new 9 pin dock connector cable is 80% smaller and is called lightning, it works on from both sides on the port. When released iPhone 5 will feature iOS 6 out of the box.
iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order on September 14 and will be shipped on September 22. It costs $199, $299 and $399 for 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models respectively.
