Apple announces iPad mini with thin design, 7.9-inch display, A5 chip, LTE and more

Apple has officially announced the new iPad mini tablet. The new iPad mini features a thin design that is 53% lighter than the current 9.7-inch iPad, weighs 0.68 lbs, and is only 7.2mm thick. iPad mini has a 7.9-inch display that carries a resolution of 1024×768 pixels and is 29.6 square inches. Thanks to its resolution, the new iPad mini runs all the 275,000 iPad applications available in the App Store today. It has a A5 dual-core processor, 5-megapixel iSight camera, HD camera for Facetime, LTE,  lightning connector, 10 hours battery life, Siri and more. Apple will be selling a smart cover for iPad mini that works exactly like the smart cover for the larger iPad.

iPad mini just like the bigger model is available in black and white colors. Unlike the bigger iPad, it has a back that is more similar to iPod touch 5th generation giving it a unique look. The Wi-Fi versions of  iPad mini cost $329 for 16GB model, $429 for 32GB model, and $529 for 64GB model. The LTE cellular versions cost $459 for 16GB model, $559  for 32GB model, and $659 for 64GB model. Pre-orders for iPad mini will start this Friday, and the Wi-Fi version will start shipping on November 2nd.

iPad mini has a screen size of 7.9-inches, that is 1.8-inches smaller than the 9.7-inches screen size of Retina Display iPad. iPad mini’s screen measures 7.9-inch diagonally.
