John Coates, who is the developer of popular Cydia tweaks including xMessages and MissionBoard has announced an amazing utility for jailbroken iOS devices that promises to change the way we tweak our iPhones, iPods and iPads. With this new app called ‘Flex’ you will not only be able to modify system settings but it also promises to customize all the apps you install from App Store. In other words this app will allow you to create small tweaks. No, you don’t need the knowledge of Objective-C or any other programming language. Creating new tweaks will be pretty easy just by adding few checks that will be already available in the app.
This is really a powerful idea and could be the future of iOS tweaking. Here’s how it works, lets say we want to create a small tweak that will add the timestamps in the Messages.app. Open the Flex app, first it will show you the list of installed apps. Select Messages.app from there and add a new ‘Unit’. Search ‘timestamps’ and then add the respective command, afterwards enter it’s value to ‘True’. After doing that you have successfully created your first tweak. Simple! isn’t it?
Flex is currently in private beta and the developer is hoping to release it soon. No words on price.
