A new theme for jailbroken devices called the Peekly theme for iPhone and iPod touch radically changes the look of iOS lockscreen and makes it even more useful by adding calendar and weather integration to it. The Peekly theme for iPhone is highly customizable and users can replace calendar with twitter feed, RSS feed and Google Calendar. The selected option can be revealed by swiping the finger from the extreme left to the right direction. Developer have promised that more options will be added soon.

It is a two page theme and on the other side users can swipe to reveal the four day weather forecast. On the weather page users can see forecast of next four days along with maximum and minimum temperatures.

Right now the developer of Peekly theme for iPhone and iPod touch is testing it in an open beta and has given the download on his website along with installation instructions. The theme will be released in a repo soon, which will make it super easy to install.

Apple iOS is undoubtedly one of the best mobile operating system out there but right now it is left behind on one front, which is lack of new design and revamped UI. The world’s most popular mobile OS hasn’t changed much in the past few years and fans have been complaining about it ever since the release of iOS 4. Now as we await iOS 7 it is expected that Apple will finally introduce new graphical changes along with new features to revive the looks of iOS on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Jailbreak tweaks and themes such as Peekly show us what iOS is missing.

Find the installation instructions and download file for Peekly theme for iPhone and iPod touch on developer’s site. It is available for free.
