Adobe has recently released a major update to it’s Photoshop touch app in the App Store making it fully compatible with iPad 3rd Generation’s Retina Display screen. After the update users will be able to enjoy sharper images, text, and UI elements that look crispier and cleaner than ever before. Besides the Retina Display support for iPad, Adobe has also added the capability of editing multi-layered pictures that are up to 12 megapixels in size. This feature is exclusively available for iPad 3 users, while iPad 2 users will be able to edit images that are up to 10 megapixels in size. Marvel has released the new Avenger Initiative game for iPhone and iPad, and it is now available in the App Store for download. The game features popular characters from Avengers movie including Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. This is the first instalment of the game, and only allows users to play the game with Hulk. Other characters will be introduced in the coming updates of the game. Avengers Initiative follows the story line in which there is a prison break, that results in the release of all the deadly criminals and monsters. It is now up to the Avengers Initiative of S.H.I.E.L.D to fight them and save the world peace.

The Super heroes of in the game obviously feature super powers with every character featuring unique capabilities. Marvel will be releasing updates to the game bringing new events, characters and more. Avengers Initiative features gorgeous graphics that are so detailed that the game itself has become incompatible with many older iOS devices.

The game as it’s iTunes description page suggests is only available to the users of iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the new iPad. Strangely none of iPod touch devices are supported.

Popular productivity app Things has recently released a major update for both iOS and Mac platforms, and it’s version 2.0 is now available in the App Store for download. Things 2 brings the new cloud feature to the app called Things Cloud, that conveniently syncs all of user’s data between devices keeping all your Things data up-to date across all connected devices. Once the new cloud feature is turned on, you will never have to update your data across all your devices manually again. The update also brings the new ‘Daily Review’ feature that allows users to view the most important tasks for the day and instantly start or postpone them for until later.

The update 2.0 adds a new scrolling date picker that makes selecting date much easier than it was before as instead of splitting the calendar into months, the new date picker combines them into a continuous stream making it easier for users to choose the date they are looking for.

Here are a few more changes that Things 2.0 brings to the app:

• A refreshing new look. Some great visual refinements make working with your to-dos a pleasure.
• Cancel To-Dos. If you decide not to complete a to-do, tap and hold its checkbox.
• Log Immediately. To-dos can now be moved to the Logbook automatically as soon as you complete them.
• Projects in Today. Add whole projects to Today instead of just single to-dos.
• First Day of the Week. Choose the first day of your week independently of your device’s default setting.
• Calendar Weeks. If you rely on numbered calendar weeks, just rotate the new date picker to landscape orientation.
• Accessibility. Much improved accessibility when using VoiceOver.
• New Engine. A re-engineered core for a blazingly fast Things Cloud performance.

Those Mac users who do web programing will be familiar with Coda. Coda is a web code editing application for OS X by Panic, Inc. Recently Coda 2 was released that brought several new features and enhancements to the Mac app, and on the same day Panic announced Coda for iPad. Coda for iPad is very similar to it’s Mac counterpart but is optimized for the touch screen. It is called Diet Coda in the App Store instead of just Coda. Diet Code can be used to make quick edits to sites you are working on, from wherever you want whenever you want – on the go. 

Diet Coda features remote editing, so that you can edit your documents on your server using your iPad. It features syntax highlighting for HTML. CSS, JS, and PHP. Syntax highlighting for more languages will be added in the coming updates.

With Diet Coda’s powerful FTP and SFTP file management you can open, modify, rename, change permission on files placed on your server.

A new tweak for jailbroken iPads named ‘Quasar’ is now available in the Cydia Store for download. Quasar tweak adds window based multitasking (the one found on OS X and Windows) to iPad. It allows applications to share the screen and also run and process simultaneously. Users can bring any app to front and take any app to the background with a single tap. When Qausar is installed on your iPad, the apps will open in a window state instead of full screen, users can move it to any place on their iPad by simply holding the bottom bar and dragging it on the the screen. The bottom bar contains four buttons, that allow users to interact with the window of the app and not the app itself. Close button closes the app and puts it in the background, full screen button enlarges it to the full screen, and rotate button rotates the app. Another button with two arrow heads allows users to move the window around the screen.

Quasar is fully integrated with iOS’s default app switcher, so if you want to kill an app then simply double press your home button and kill the app you want to close. When Quasar is installed, and an app is running on top of the screen users can press the home button to reveal their iPad’s home screen. Quasar is also integrated with the Notification Center, Safari, App Store, and Youtube so whenever a user taps on a link that requires opening one of these native apps, your iPad will work normally.

The settings for Quasar can easily be configured by going into Settings.app. Quasar works fine and has very few bearable bugs and glitches, which i am sure will be eliminated in the coming updates. The only problem i found was with the text, which was to some extent unreadable due to non-retina display screen of iPad and iPad 2. But this should not be a problem for iPad 3 users when a jailbreak for their device is release.

Quasar tweak requires iOS 5.0 or above and is exclusive to iPad. It is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $9.99.

Adobe’s Photoshop Touch app, that came to the App Store yesterday only to disappear has finally become available to download. Adobe Photoshop allows users to edit images and work on layers right on their iPad. The app is integrated with the PC version so that users can transfer the edited files to their PC and continue working on the same image from there. Maximum image resolution for editing and new image is 1600 x 1600 pixels, which is acceptable as you are working on a tablet.

With Adobe Photoshop Touch you can combine images and add professional effects to them right on your iPad. You can also share the images on social networks including Facebook. The app features a built-in Google image search that comes with filters, this allows users to search for images differentiated according to their colors from within the app. Photoshop Touch features all handy and popular PS tools including layers, selection tools, adjustments, and filters to create images.

Sadly, Adobe Photoshop Touch is only available for iPad 2 and requires iOS 5.0 or above to run. You can download it from the App Store for $9.99 here

Adobe’s long awaited Photoshop Touch app for iPad was released in the App Store earlier, but was pulled instantly. The app is said to return in the App Store on Monday. Adobe Photoshop Touch will run on iPad 2 and above, and will allow users to work on images right on their iPads. Photoshop Touch has been available for Android from months now, and it is nice to see Adobe releasing an iPad version (better late than never). Adobe announced Photoshop Touch back in October with 5 other apps that are part of its Touch Apps family.

Adobe Photoshop Touch lets users transform images with core Photoshop features in an app custom-built for tablets. With simple finger gestures, users can combine multiple photos into layered images, make popular edits and apply professional effects. The tablet-exclusive Scribble Selection Tool allows users to easily extract objects in an image by simply scribbling on what to keep and then what to remove. With Refine Edge technology from Adobe Photoshop, even hard-to-select areas with soft edges, such as hair, are easily captured when making selections. Additionally, the app helps users quickly find images, share creations, and view comments through integration with Facebook and Google Search. Using the syncing capabilities that are a component of Adobe Creative Cloud, files can be opened in Adobe Photoshop.
