Hacked Apple TV now runs fullscreen iPad apps at 720p resolution

Developers working on the Apple TV hack to run iOS apps on it have acheived a major accomplishment, they now have been able to run the  apps on Apple TV in full screen mode. As reported by 9to5Mac, now the hacked version of Apple TV is able to run iPad apps at full 720p resolution. Apple TV can run apps in two modes, a full screen mode and a side-by-side mode. In the video embedded after the break developer has demonstrated his jailbroken Apple TV running native Youtube app, Facebook for iPad, and Safari.

Developer Steven Troughton-Smith tweeted “Remember how the unofficial iPhone applications back in ‘07 forced Apple’s hand in creating an App Store? I’d like Apple TV to get the same treatment.” We think and hope so too and would like to see the same treatment for Apple TV from Apple. How awesome it would be to run amazing iOS apps on our Apple TV that is sitting in our living rooms – the possibilities are endless.
