Retina Display size images found in Apple’s new iPad apps

Apple released two new apps for iPad right after its education event yesterday. Right after their release developers started digging into them to see if they could find some hints for next generation Apple iPad, and it turns out they got what they wanted. In iBooks 2 and iTunes U developers found images that were 2x larger than the current iPad resolution indicating that Apple might release a Retina Display equipped iPad this year.

Previously developers found strings in iOS code hinting towards a Retina display iPad with 2048×1536 resolution. After all these hints it is very likely that Apple will release an iPad with double resolution this year. iPad 3 is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2012.
