iOS ’86 theme for iPhone and iPod touch now available in Cydia

Last week a designer named Anton Repponen published a concept for an iOS theme that was inspired by the color scheme of old Mac. The black and white theme looked so elegant, that a developer name AR7 converted the concept into reality. The theme is available for free in Cydia and requires a jailbroken device with Winterboard installed. This theme turns the stock icons into black and white, but the third party app icons and other UI elements remain the same. We hope developer will add support for that in the future.

Here is a guide written by iDownloadBlog that will help you in installing this awesome theme on your iPhone or iPod touch. Remember, for best results use a plain white wallpaper (download link below).

Step 1. Open Cydia, and add http://repo.ithemes.it to your list of sources (you’ll notice that Cydia warns you that the repo has been reported for redistributing copyrighted works. iDB doesn’t normally recommend installing these kinds of repos, but this was the only place we could find the theme).

Step 2. Once the repo is installed, do a search in Cydia for ‘iOS 86′ and install it.

Step 3. Now you’ll need to activate the theme in Winterboard(If you don’t have it, you’ll need to install it), and re-spring your device.

Step 4. And finally, it’s not mandatory, but we recommend you download and apply this white wallpaper to complete the look.
