A new tweak for jailbroken iPads named ‘Quasar’ is now available in the Cydia Store for download. Quasar tweak adds window based multitasking (the one found on OS X and Windows) to iPad. It allows applications to share the screen and also run and process simultaneously. Users can bring any app to front and take any app to the background with a single tap. When Qausar is installed on your iPad, the apps will open in a window state instead of full screen, users can move it to any place on their iPad by simply holding the bottom bar and dragging it on the the screen. The bottom bar contains four buttons, that allow users to interact with the window of the app and not the app itself. Close button closes the app and puts it in the background, full screen button enlarges it to the full screen, and rotate button rotates the app. Another button with two arrow heads allows users to move the window around the screen.
Quasar is fully integrated with iOS’s default app switcher, so if you want to kill an app then simply double press your home button and kill the app you want to close. When Quasar is installed, and an app is running on top of the screen users can press the home button to reveal their iPad’s home screen. Quasar is also integrated with the Notification Center, Safari, App Store, and Youtube so whenever a user taps on a link that requires opening one of these native apps, your iPad will work normally.
The settings for Quasar can easily be configured by going into Settings.app. Quasar works fine and has very few bearable bugs and glitches, which i am sure will be eliminated in the coming updates. The only problem i found was with the text, which was to some extent unreadable due to non-retina display screen of iPad and iPad 2. But this should not be a problem for iPad 3 users when a jailbreak for their device is release.
Quasar tweak requires iOS 5.0 or above and is exclusive to iPad. It is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $9.99.
