Absent from these two devices at launch, iOS 6 beta 3 has added VIP inbox feature for the stock mail app on iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th generation, bringing the feature to all iOS 6 compatible devices. VIP feature of iOS 6 allows users to make their device show a star marker on one side of the mail coming from a special sender. Users can add as many people as they want in their VIP list and never miss reading an email coming from an important person, ever.
VIP list is iCloud enabled too, so if you have added someone in the VIP list on your iPhone, you will get that person in the VIP list on your iPad and iPod touch too, given they are connected with same iCloud ID.
Redesigned with a more streamlined interface for easier reading and writing, Mail in iOS 6 lets you set up a VIP list so you’ll never miss an important message from your accountant, your boss, or your BFF. It’s even easier to add photos and videos to email messages. And to refresh your mailboxes, all you have to do is swipe down.
Update: As MacRumors points out, Apple has also added iOS 6′s Shared PhotoStream feature for iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th Generation users in iOS 6 beta 3.
