After App Store iMessage goes down for some users

9to5Mac reports that Apple’s messaging service for iOS devices, iMessage is down for several users. The outage is not affecting all users, but is hitting iMessage users on a large scale. Confused users have flooded Twitter with tweets regarding the outage. Due to this outage some users are not able to send or receive messages on their iOS devices. Right now iMessage is also having problem with activation issues, that is stopping some users from signing in to their account after they have signed out. Another problem faced by users is deletion of random messages from ongoing conversations. Users are reporting that they are seeing delivery reports for messages that have not been received by the receiver on the other end.

It is not clear at this point how large is this outage, and how long it is going to take for Apple to fix this issue. It was only yesterday when users from around the world reported that App Store isn’t working for them, and now iMessage is following the same footsteps.

Update: According to a user from this thread on Apple’s community site, Apple is aware of this situation and is working to solve this issue. Here’s what the user has to say about this outage:

I called Apple this morning and they are having problems with iMessage. They have someone working on it. They told me could take anywhere from 24-48 hours. Sorry!
