Apple is holding a big media event on October 23rd to announce various new products including the iPad mini, revamped third generation iPad, and new Mac models. Apple’s new iPad mini tablet will directly target the education sector due to its affordable price, and Apple certainly knows that. May be that’s why the company is going to release a major update to its iBooks app for iOS that is currently on version 2.0. iBooks 3.0 appeared in a book’s listing on iTunes store which clearly refrences towards an unreleased version of iBooks. The app’s description page says “This book requires iBooks 3.0 or later…”
Apple updated iBooks app earlier this year and they are certainly going to update the app not only to support the new tablet form factor but also to add new features to improve it. While nothing else is known about what is changed in the latest version of iBooks, we are sure it is going to be a big update. We will know more details for sure when the app’s update is announced at the October 23rd event. [iGen.fr via TNW]
