Samsung to take on iPad mini with its upcoming Galaxy Note 8 tablet (photos)

Apple iPad’s mini has proved to be the best selling small screen tablet and most successful after the larger iPad. On other hand, Samsung, which is entertaining the tech market with mobile devices of various shapes and sizes hasn’t been able to do great in the tablet arena. Samsung’s prime motive is to maintain pace with Apple in terms of tablet sales just like the smartphone business where Samsung has been able to grab the “Number 2” position. In competition with the iPad Mini, the South Korean company is currently working on an 8-inch tablet called Galaxy Note 8. The leaked images of that device have surface on the web.

Galaxy Note 8 whose specs are unknown at this point will most probably feature a display of 16:10 and a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixel. Although its resolution is higher than the iPad mini for now, it is quite possible that the upgraded version of iPad mini may have Retina display in the next version.

Galaxy Note 8′s expected specs include a quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. It reportedly has a back camera of 5-megapixel without flash. It is also going to feature the S-Pen stylus that is now getting common with the Samsung devices.

Just like the iPad mini, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet will be in market in two models Wi-Fi and cellular. Reports say that the Galaxy Note 8 will be officially launched during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. In comparison with iPad mini, Note 8 price is expected to be lower – nothing can be said with certainty though. This factor may act as positive point in device’s sales.
