Backup your data
First of all you should back up your device’s data through iTunes or iCloud. We would recommend doing it with iTunes as that method is faster and easier to do.
Save SHSH blobs of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for your current iOS version using Tiny Umbrella
1 ) Download TinyUmbrella tool from here for Mac and Windows. Save it on your desktop and launch it.
2 ) Now connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer using the USB cable. You will see your device in Tiny Umbrella’s top left corner.
3 ) After your device has been recognized by TinyUmbrella click on the advanced tab and uncheck the following two options.
- Request SHSH From Cydia
- Save ALL Available SHSH
4 ) Now change the save SHSH directory to any folder of your choice so it is easier for you to find when you need them. Now click on the log tab.
5 ) After you are done with all the steps above simply click on the Save SHSH button. Save it in your desired folder. After that TinyUmbrella will begin saving your blobs. Sit back, relax and let it do its job.
6 ) Now to verify open the folder you saved the SHSH blobs in and check if blobs are there. They should be saved with your device’s name and firmware version.
Now as your SHSH blobs are saved you can downgrade to this particular version of iOS whenever you want, even if Apple has stopped signing it. You should also save SHSH blobs of iOS 6.1 using the same method.
Upgrade your device to iOS 6.1
After you are done with all the steps above you can upgrade to the latest version of iOS, which is iOS 6.1 before the release of evasi0n jailbreak tool. Follow the steps below to upgrade.
1 ) Although you can upgrade to iOS 6.1 from many ways we recommend that you do it manually by downloading it. You can grab a copy of iOS 6.1 for your device from here.
2 ) After downloading the IPSW for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, launch iTunes and connect your iOS device to computer.
3 ) Now click on the iOS device button that should appear on top right side of your iTunes. Now you will see the summary page of your device.
4 ) From there you will see the restore button. Please note that you should press keyboard’s shift button on a Windows PC and the Option key on a Mac while clicking the ‘Restore’ button.
iTunes would take a few minutes to install iOS 6.1. After its done you will be notified.
Also, when your iOS device has been upgraded to iOS 6.1 you can restore all of your data you backed up earlier. Follow the Restoration section of this guide to do so.
