Yesterday right after the release of the evasi0n jailbreak tool for iOS 6.x, which for the first time brought a jailbreak solution of newer iOS devices including the iPhone 5 and iPad mini – The jailbreaker’s heaven, Cydia saw extremely high traffic volumes which made it dysfunctional for most users. As many users were running Cydia for the first time they couldn’t wait for it to get back in order.
Not only Cydia store but the popular repositories including BigBoss Repo and ModMyi repo also saw huge traffic loads and were not able to fulfill download requests for most of their users. This slowness with Cydia continued for hours, only adding frustration to users who were desperate for downloading best Cydia tweaks on their newly jailbroken devices.
Now the good news is Cydia has finally recovered from the huge traffic blow and is working almost fine for majority of users including us.
While many people took it to Twitter to display their anger on Cydia downage, the store had a valid reason to justify the downtime. Saurik, Cydia’s founder tweeted
So, the thing that is different about this jailbreak is that @evad3rs provided a specific time; normally, usage follows a wave of discovery.
