Apple rumored to introduce iPhone with wireless charging feature this year

The recent rumors suggest that Apple will finally give us an iPhone with wireless charging feature. Although we have been hearing such rumors from a long time the most recent one comes from DigiTimes. The Chinese publication has reported that in 2013 Apple is coming up with plans of implementing the technology for its “flagship models” of smartphones – which of course means or includes the iPhone 5S.

Considering the Apple’s way of working, we can believe the story that iPhone maker is working on its “own” wireless charging technology rather going for Qi inductive charging method however the question still remains – will it include that tech in the upcoming smartphones and we will have a  iPhone with wireless charging feature.

Adding the feature is a must for Apple as its competitors which includes LG, Nokia and HTC have brought in wireless charging technology to their smartphones and follow the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) and Power Matters Alliance (PMA) in the implementation.

DigiTimes has reported that Apple and Samsung are also following wireless charging to the flagship smartphone models in 2013. The report says about the iPhone with wireless charging :

Apple is likely to adopt the wireless charging technology developed internally, but it remains unknown if the next-generation iPhone will come with built-in wireless charging capability or with other attached accessories, said the sources.’

With competition already ahead in the game Apple will have to introduce an iPhone with wireless charging feature sooner or later and it is a technology that we are sure Cupertino is more eager to include in its iOS line up of devices than we are.
