Android has this app from quite some time now and it is pretty good. Field Trip app for iOS gives the notification to the users about interesting places around depending on their location using the GPS on the device. This app allows you to get more about the places, find directions or bookmark the localities for later viewing. The iPhone user can select the notification frequency along with the genres of interest.

The Field trip begins with an easy tutorial, with instructions about apps notifications. ‘Explore’, ‘Feeling Lucky’ and ‘Off’ are the levels of notifications frequency from which you have to choose. After the completion of configuration, you need to tell your interests to the Field Trip app for iOS. All the sources and locations are selected by default, however this selection can be changed if you simply swipe to left ad uncheck any source or category that is not of your choice.

Google Field Trip app for iOS can also speak its notifications. From the apps setting menu, you can easily select the option for spoken notifications.

After the set up, get entered in the ‘Nearby’ section and let it load interesting places. By roaming around the field trip map, you can find more about the distinct places. Your interesting areas are marked by colored a card that directs you to the dedicated page of place. These pages have attractive photos with little description. You have option of sharing this information on social media pages or adding in your favorites. You can also get walking or driving directions to the place of your interest, however the app does not have the directions, and Field Trip redirects the users to Apple’s Maps for that.
