Apple Is Now Hiring Workers To Build Its Metaverse

According to Bloomberg, Apple is searching for engineers to create a 3D environment for its next mixed-reality headset.

Early in 2021, it was revealed that the business was working on virtual and augmented reality headgear. According to trademark applications from August, the headset may be called “Reality One” or “Reality Pro.”

Apple’s Technology Development Group is reportedly hiring software developers to create visual effects for virtual reality and virtual reality settings as well as individuals to create a video service with 3D material to create content for its headset.

Apple Is Building Its Own Metaverse

A senior software engineer position in graphics and simulation is advertised as needing “knowledge in 3D graphics to lead establishing a simulation and artificial data pipeline for deep learning training.”

Though a 3D mixed-reality world sounds a lot like what Mark Zuckerberg‘s Meta hopes to create in the upcoming years, don’t anticipate Apple to refer to their version as a “metaverse.”

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, previously admitted to Bright, a Dutch media site, that he avoids using the term “metaverse.”

According to Bloomberg, it is planning to unveil its first mixed-reality headset in 2023. When it comes to creating the virtual reality world, Apple and Meta are engaged in a “deep, philosophical struggle,” according to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta.

Last week, Meta made its first significant workforce reduction in company history and a significant cost reorientation in response to mounting investor skepticism over his metaverse idea. Employees at the firm were preparing for layoffs as the business’s development slowed and some investors expressed worry over Zuckerberg’s expenditure on the metaverse.

Apple and competitor Snapchat have both stated that they aim to concentrate more on augmented reality (AR) than virtual reality (VR) environments, with Snap CEO Evan Spiegel describing AR as “more immersive.”
