Apple News recently launched its local coverage in Canada, with the first two markets established in Toronto and Montreal. If one were to search for these cities on the app, they would be getting nothing but local news from several media outlets like Toronto Star, CTV News, La Presse, Narcity, and a few others.
Apple News App Looking For Expansion
There are several other news stories that would be situated on the app- strictly related to these two cities- with fewer international news items. This would make the app a replacement for checkout local newspapers.
Interestingly, Apple News Local Coverage came into existence just the previous year in the United States. It currently covers the local markets for a whole host of American cities such as the Bay Area, San Fransisco, Houston, New York, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Sacramento, Miami, Charlotte, and Washington DC.
Apple has mentioned that they would be adding several new cities into the app. Most of the emphasis would be placed on the size of the population and the percentage of the said population that would be prospective readers of Apple News.
