Apple has released a new update today, this time only for iPhones, to version iOS 16.1.2. A week after iOS 16.1.1, it arrives to fix bugs like crash detection.
Three weeks ago Apple released iOs 16.1, a version that brought compatibility with Matter, the shared iCloud library, and Live Activities for the dynamic island of the iPhone 14 Pro and the lock screen. Last week Apple released iOS 16.1.1, fixing bugs, and now comes iOS 16.1.2. It is not usual for Apple to release so many versions in such a short time.but some of the errors detected in the latest versions seem to have not gone unnoticed by Apple, which has had no choice but to step on the accelerator with the updates.
This new update improves compatibility with telephone operators, and also improves accident detection in the new iPhone 14. These are the official notes of this release:
This update includes important security updates and the following improvements for iPhone:
• Improved compatibility with mobile phone operators.
• Optimization of the accident detection function in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.
One of the novelties that was the protagonist in the presentation event of the new iPhone 14 was the detection of accidents. The iPhone can detect sudden decelerations and sounds that could suggest that you have had a traffic accident, and in the event that you did not respond, it would call the emergency services indicating your location. This function, which can really save your life, however can be activated in other situations, such as on a roller coaster, or even skiing as more recently some users have pointed out. This update would improve this detection by avoiding those false positives.
This update comes when we are waiting for iOS 16.2, of which we have already had several Betas and which is expected to arrive before the end of the year.
