According to respected critic Ming C Kuo, Apple is unlikely to release any devices with the latest mini-LED display sizes in 2022 owing to pricing concerns. When contacted by email for more information, Kuo stated that only Apple’s present mini-LED goods, like the 12.90-inch Apple iPad Pro, will be upgraded in 2022 and that no mini-LED products will be released this year. According to Kuo, Apple is unlikely to refresh the 11-inch Apple iPad Pro along with a LED display this year.
The 12.9-Inch iPad Pro Is Presently Performing Well
According to previous reports, Apple will introduce mini-LED display technology to the smaller 11-inch iPad Pro in 2021, after keeping it exclusive to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Young thinks it won’t happen this year, adding that the 12.90-inch Apple iPad Pro is “performing pretty well” and that Apple doesn’t need to include mini-LED to the smaller form factor.
The addition of a mini-LED display to the 11-inch iPad Pro would bring both models’ sizes closer to parity, perhaps reducing the attraction of the substantially bigger 12.9-inch Pro. The only changes between the two iPad sizes are the display technology and battery capacity. Both iPad sizes use the same M1 Apple silicon chip, camera, and design. Apple is expected to refresh the Pro later this year, with reports a little hazy as to what to anticipate.
The 12.9-inch Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro are among Apple’s current models having mini-LED screens.
If Kuo’s tweet is correct, a mini-LED version of the Studio Display will not be released this year. This forecast contradicts information released earlier this week by display industry expert Ross Young, who suggested Apple may release a 27-inch monitor with mini-LEDs in June. Young speculated that the panel will have a 5K resolution and might have ProMotion for a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
Both Kuo and Young have a good track record when it comes to predicting display-related information for future Apple goods, so it’ll be fascinating to see if Apple launches any new mini-LED items this year or just upgrades current mini-LED gadgets.
