Telegram Gets A New Look For iOS

Telegram Messenger’s latest update includes an improved search option and more straightforward navigation between messages, but the biggest part is the new ability to save media files permanently in the cloud. The previous iteration of Telegram found on iOS only allowed users to store media files temporarily on their devices. This meant that when users hit device storage capacity, Telegram would automatically ditch old media files in favor of newer ones. Now, however, users have the opportunity to store their media files directly to iCloud Drive rather than device storage space with this update—meaning they’ll be available from multiple devices simultaneously.”

The new update allows you to save these files permanently in the cloud and access them from multiple devices simultaneously. It also enables access to your profile page directly from the camera roll app icon so that you can upload photos right into a chat or group without opening up the main app first.

The messaging app has been rolling out its 2.16.7 update for iOS today, with MacOS and Android versions on their way soon. The feature will allow users to access images, videos, and other media from multiple devices without downloading them locally first — something that could help in certain situations where you want access to those files even if your phone runs out of battery power or gets stolen.

Telegram In A New iOS Avatar

Telegram says that this release uses a method similar to WhatsApp’s new beta to save media files directly to the cloud rather than device storage, which will allow users to access them from multiple devices simultaneously. Users can choose between saving files temporarily and saving them permanently using iCloud Drive.

There are a few other UI changes in this update, including the ability to swipe right or left on a message to respond with a quote. If you have location sharing enabled, you can also tap on the address field in your profile page to see your current location, which is helpful for sending messages when you’re out and about.

Improved search options are also present in Telegram 7.0, along with an improved navigation system between chats and channels that’s similar to Facebook Messenger’s design. Finally, iOS users will be able to save media files permanently in the cloud: when saving photos from Safari or Chrome browser links within a chat thread (or any other links), they’ll appear at the top of your media gallery instead of being deleted after 24 hours as before.
