WWDC24 is getting closer every day and with it the rumors about new operating systems. A few days ago we were talking about the possible compatibility of the new iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, which were going to remain the same except for some modifications with some iPads that would not be compatible with this new version. A new publication in the last few hours has put the Apple Watch Series 4 that might not be included in the list of watches compatible with watchOS 11, another new operating system that we will also see at WWDC24.

watchOS 11 could leave the Apple Watch Series 4 behind

The key moments in the presentation of the new operating systems are without a doubt the new functionalities incorporated into them in addition to the moment in which they announce which devices will be compatible with all these new features. A few hours ago a news story was published in a French media in which They predicted which Apple Watches would be compatible with watchOS 11, the next version of watchOS that will be released in June at WWDC.

The list included the following Apple Watches:

  • Apple Watch Series 5 (2019)
  • Apple Watch Series 6 (2020)
  • Apple Watch Series 7 (2021)
  • Apple Watch Series 8 (2022)
  • Apple Watch Series 9 (2023)
  • Apple Watch SE (1st generation, 2020)
  • Apple Watch SE (2nd generation, 2022)
  • Apple Watch Ultra (1st generation, 2022)
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2 (2023)

The main difference with watchOS 10 is the removal of the Apple Watch Series 4, a device that was launched in September 2018 along with the iPhone XS and was modifying box sizes which went from 38 and 42 mm to the current 40 and 44 mm. If it is confirmed that this watch is not compatible with watchOS 11, it will undoubtedly be bad news for the owners of this watch that turns 6 years old this year.
