The iPhone 15 cameras are similar to the 14 Pro and I’ll show you in three seconds

One of the main improvements of the iPhone 15 compared to the previous generation has been the leap it has experienced in terms of its lenses, acquiring many functionalities from the iPhone 14 Pro, such as the 48 MP main camera, similar to that of the iPhone 15 Pro. Its arrival means that we have many functionalities that we can consider professionalism and of course, we surely want to learn to take advantage of them. If you still don’t know how to get the most out of them, keep reading and we’ll tell you everything.

Last year, Apple launched its first 48MP main camera with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max capable of shooting ProRAW images, while the iPhone 14 stuck with a 12MP main lens. This year, all models of iPhone 15 have 48 MP main cameras. While the 15 Pro and Pro Max can shoot ProRAW, Apple wanted to provide greater features to the base models, through a new HEIF Max mode that allows you to take 48 MP photos. Do you want to know how to activate it? Let’s analyze it below.

What is HEIF Max mode?

As we have said, this HEIF Max mode allows you generate high resolution images by taking photographs around with a weight of approximately 5-10 MB, we may not want to use it all the time and even more so if you have the input storage capacity, that is, 128 GB. Now, if you want to capture a greater amount of detail, we can use this mode that allows you to obtain photographs of up to 48 MP practically by pressing a button and I tell you honestly, it is very noticeable.

To do this, we have to carry out the following steps:

  1. Swipe down and tap Camera.
  2. Select the Resolution Control tab on the iPhone 15/15 Plus
  3. Head to the Cameras app and make sure HEIF MAX is showing in the corner and not crossed out. By default it will appear disabled, but you just have to click on it to have access to this new functionality.

Now, we have to take into account several things about the iPhone 15 cameras. First of all, the default focal length is x1, that is, if we go to x2 we will not have access to 24 mpx. Also, if we activate the live mode we will not be able to use the Heif Max mode.

How does the iPhone 15 camera perform?

The iPhone 15 cameras perform with magnificent quality in most scenarios, which shows the great job Apple has done in shorten the distances we have between the professional generation and the base model. Personally, I, who have an iPhone 15 and my father an iPhone 13, have noticed a lot of difference when making night photographs, where practically, regardless of the lighting conditions in the scene, there is enough light to obtain very interesting results.

Along with this, we have to highlight video modewhich although it is Apple’s hallmark and the best on the market, on the iPhone 15 every time you make some it says: “it looks good, really”, generating a feeling of satisfaction because without being the Pro model, you can obtain photographs and videos with more than excellent quality.
