How to translate languages on iPhone without Internet connection
To translate for free and without internet from the iPhone, you will need the Translate app. It is an application that comes downloaded by default in the latest versions of iOS. However, if you have deleted it, you can download it completely free from the App Store. In addition, it is present in iOS, iPadOS and macOS. The first thing we must do, to activate these functions, is go to Settings > Translate. Once there, we activate the “Local translation” function. This enables the download of languages in the memory of the iPhone, in order to be able to use them when we do not have any available network connection. Once we enter the Translate app, we will have three usage options: Translation, Camera and Conversation. The first mode, Translation is the most basic of the three. You just have to select the two languages (both must be downloaded) and start writing the text you want to translate. The iPhone will do it automatically and we will have the results instantly.
The second mode is Camera. The iPhone is already capable of recognizing text in images, without the need for third-party applications. And yes, this feature is also available without an internet connection. It is as simple as opening the function, focus and take the photo. And the translated results will automatically appear, superimposed on the photo.
The last mode, Conversation, It is simultaneous translation. Just press the microphone button and start talking. The iPhone will automatically record the recording and display the translated results immediately. Of course, keep in mind that for all three cases, we must select the languages that we have previously downloaded.
If we want to translate without an internet connection, and we select a language that we don’t have downloaded, it simply won’t let us select the option. Therefore, you have to make sure of the languages that you think you are going to use, before using this mode. Of course, for this function not all the languages of the world are available.
